Herringbone Laminate Flooring

June 21, 2021 //  by Sophia//  Leave a Comment

Laminate flooring is an affordable flooring option which is easy to look after and will stand the test of time. It is also much quicker to install unlike real wood parquet flooring so your home will be transformed with herringbone flooring in no time. The herringbone pattern as a laminate flooring option offers you something a little less streamlined whilst still being a beautiful addition to your home so your home will look modern and on trend whilst maintaining a level of sophistication.

Texture

Laminate flooring is more advanced than ever before. So much so, once your flooring is laid, it is hard to tell that it isn’t a real wood floor. This is because the grains and knots running through each plank mimics wood perfectly, making it a more affordable and attractive option. It also helps to add depth your home, making it a warm and inviting place to relax in.

Waterproof

Whilst solid hard wood flooring is a lot of things, being waterproof certainly isn’t one of them. Laminate on the other hand can handle moisture as the surface is waterproof. This makes it a more pet and child friendly option as you don’t have to worry as much about spillages and muddy paw prints. This is because the laminate is designed with a clever locking installation which prevents moisture from seeping through the joins. As laminate is waterproof, it is a suitable option for any room, including the bathroom. This means that you can still have a herringbone patterned floor without having to worry about your floor becoming damaged from moisture.

Cleaning

Unlike real wood, laminate is very easy to look after and clean. For spills and stubborn marks, a damp cloth is the best way to remove residue without damaging your floor. For daily cleaning, you can sweep or hoover to remove dust and dirt however, if you want to deep clean your floor, resist mopping daily and instead do it periodically. This will ensure that your herringbone floor will maintain its look and durability. Laminate is a fair less labour intensive option compared to a real wood herringbone floor. This is because as well as how you would look after a laminate floor, you will need to use a wood floor cleaner every 4-6 weeks and it will also need to be re-finished every couple of years or more often in places with high foot traffic. This certainly adds to the expense of having a traditional herringbone floor, making laminate the more popular choice for a lot of people.

Since the development of herringbone as a laminate flooring option, it is clear why it is a popular alternative to the traditional parquet blocks. As laminate isn’t genuine wood, it means that there is a wider variety to choose from which is another bonus for those of you who want a more contemporary finish to your home and don’t want to go for a traditional ‘wood’ coloured floor. This is especially a good selling point for laminate at the moment given the current grey and white wash interior trend.
