Snorkeling in Maui – Best Places to Explore

Snorkeling is an underwater sport that involves the use of a breathing tube and mask. This is a perfect vacation activity to explore underwater canyons, vibrant green moss, and a vivid aquatic ecosystem. Hawaii, and particularly Maui, have always been popular holiday destinations with many stunning beaches with golden-white sand. This place takes one to a beautiful tropical paradise, offering a refuge from the humdrum of regular life. With its rich marine life and vast waterbodies, snorkel tours Maui are very popular among tourists.

Why Is Maui The Best Place For Snorkeling?

Snorkeling in Maui is a one-of-a-kind experience. Here, nearly all of the best spots are close to the shoreline. The best part is that tourists do not have to pay for boats. One can enjoy the water activity for as long as possible as there’s no fixed timetable. Tourists will never run out of places to explore in Maui, with numerous excellent snorkeling areas.

Molokini Crater

Molokini Crater is an underwater volcano islet about 2.5 miles off the south shore of Maui. This partially submerged crescent-shaped volcanic crater. This is one of the best snorkeling destinations in the world.

Turtle Town

Hawaiian green sea turtles can be seen in Turtle Town- the best snorkeling site on Maui. This section of the ocean is home to a huge number of the famous Hawaiian green sea turtles that fall under the category of the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

Coral Gardens

Honolua Bay

Five Caves

Kapalua Bay

One of Maui’s most remarkable beaches, Kapalua Bay, is a lovely place to visit. The words for “two frontiers” in the prehistoric Hawaiian language are kapalua, Kapa, and lua. Kapalua Bay is situated between Oneloa and Honokahua Bays. This not only explains its name but also presents it as an ideal spot to enjoy snorkeling in all of its glory.

Ulua Beach

This isolated South Maui snorkeling beach, once known as “Kaula’uo Beach,” is now more generally known as “Ulua Beach.” It is named after the popular Hawaiian fish ‘Ulua.’ Ulua Beach is famous among expert scuba divers and also attracts resort guests.

Ahihi Kinau Natural Area Reserve

The Ahihi Kinau Natural Area Reserve is one of Maui’s youngest and most fragile eco-reef zones. This little cove is ideal for snorkeling in Maui with a small group, especially kids or people uncomfortable in the open sea.
