3 Tips For Motorcycle Safety

December 3, 2019 //  by Sophia//  Leave a Comment

Riding your motorcycle provides plenty of freedom and enjoyment. It’s an opportunity to explore the open road on two wheels and go on an adventure. However, along with the freedom and excitement is also a considerable amount of risk. It’s critical that you follow the right safety tips in order to stay out of harm’s way.

Motorcycles don’t provide the same amount of protection that a car does, If you get into an accident, there’s no protection between you and whatever hits you. Even the slightest fender bender can cause serious damage when it’s on a motorcycle.

Therefore, here are some of the best tips out there to help keep you safe while riding.

Keep Your Speed Down

Even though it may be tempting to zoom as fast as you can go for the thrill of the ride, speeding is one of the most common reasons why people get into accidents. Going at an excessive speed lowers your reaction time. If there’s a threat on the road, you’ll be much less likely to catch it in time.

You never know when there may be an unexpected curve ahead, a change in traffic speed, or even a puddle. When you go at the recommended speed, you have much more control over your vehicle and a lower chance of getting hurt.

Never Drink And Drive

Hopefully, you’ve heard by now that you shouldn’t drink before you drive. However, despite laws being put in place, people still drink and drive every day, resulting in tragedies everywhere.

If you have any alcohol, don’t get on your bike Alcohol will impair your judgment, slow down your ability to react to threats on the road, and can result in serious fines and jail time.

Even though driving yourself may be more convenient than organizing a ride with someone else or calling a cab, it’s not worth risking your life drinking and driving.

Wear Safety Gear

Sometimes despite your best efforts to stay safe, obstacles come up that are out of your control. Therefore, it’s incredibly important to wear protective gear.

Not only should you make sure that you’re wearing a helmet, but you should also protect the rest of your body too. You should wear long sleeves, pants, and boots to protect your body from road burn.

Ideally, it should be leather clothing since it’s durable and non-flammable if you should get into an accident and fly off your bike.

In a perfect world, motorcyclists would be respected just like other vehicles on the road. However, the truth is that motorcycles are sometimes invisible to other drivers and in danger as a result.

Even though you can’t control other drivers, you can still control yourself. By practicing these safety tips and being a defensive driver,
