Way back in the 1930's a design icon was born in the Anglepoise desk lamp. It was the first fully articulated desk and bedside light of its kind, and its spring controlled cantilever tilt mechanism has stood the test of time. It has even become a modern day icon with the famous introductory animation from those geniuses at Pixar. Although below you'll see where they got the idea from in the original step frame animation done by Peter Ryde decades before Pixar came on the scene. To celebrate the 70th Birthday of the original 1227 Anglepoise Lamp this three times life-size Anglepoise has been created. Each lamp is hand made (the black version is a limited edition) and comes with the modern day addition of casters (it's darn heavy) to move it around on, and a dimmer switch, as well as the ability to lock it in position for added safety. As you can see, this is no cheap light, but we reckon it's possibly the coolest standard lamp we've ever seen, and we've no doubt that these handmade originals will one day become collectors items. Even though it's beyond the reach of many of us it's nice to dream.
