What's Wired This Month […] iliketotallyloveit.com. It’s Digg
for the shopping set. Aping the same popularity-contest scheme as the
news aggregator, users submit links to products, and if enough people
like totally love it, the lustworthy object lands on the front
page. You won’t find mainstream goods here — mostly doodads you didn’t
know you wanted but suddenly like totally need.
Many internet users love searching out interesting stuff and
displaying their finds to the world. An overwhelming display of
trivial materialism, iliketotallyloveit.com crystallises the process
by letting users submit “cool, hot, beautiful stuff, preferably with a
link to where it may be bought”. If enough people agree that your
submission is brilliant it is promoted to the front page.
Sites dedicated to reading reviews
on other people's experiences, such as iliketotallyloveit.com and
ballofdirt.com, offer a heady mixture of entertainment, voyeurism and
exhibitionism, and are already quietly attracting millions on the web.
Our
selection of trend-spotters' tips for 2008: […] Vicarious
consumption, a term coined a century ago by an economist, Thorstein
Veblen, to describe the thrill rich people get when they buy their
butler a lovely new uniform, is making a comeback in a new form,
according to Amsterdam-based Trendwatching. It involves services for
telling consumers “exactly what other consumers are enjoying and
valuing most”—websites such as iliketotallyloveit.com […] are part of the trend.
Launched in December of last year, iliketotallyloveit is a
bookmarking tool for products found around the web. As with Digg,
you vote up the items you like, and the community benefits from the
wisdom-of-the-crowds approach to web content. In essence, this is a
product review site.
I love the concept.
Iliketotallyloveit combines shopping with eclectic humor. […] The page design really catches the eye. […] There's a certain charm about iliketotallyloveit. What it lacks in true originality it makes up for in personality and the quality of the submitted content.
Genius! Sometimes it's the simple ones that do it for you, and this
one is superb. Rather than load you down with reviews, fancy
navigation and frills you don't need, these guys […] have come
up with a genius play - a Digg for gadgets. […] Sure there are
similar out there, but this is the essence of cool, wrapped up in a
clean, no-frills, no-brainer package. It's got a fabulously simple
interface, a great bookmarklet, RSS feeds of the listings and it
rocks. […] It's one of the best things I've seen in ages.
This is an interesting site: iliketotallyloveit.com, a website […] where you can
post links to an item, rank its price, and write a brief blurb about it.
[…] It's relatively new, but once the user base expands, I think it might be
pretty useful.

Recently launched iliketotallyloveit.com is a community-based website
for product recommendations. Or, in terms a Valley Girl would be more
likely to grasp, a popularity contest for beautiful things. Members
can submit short reviews of desirable goods, with a link to where the
item can be purchased. If enough other members like totally love it,
the product is promoted to the front page, where it's exposed to a
wider audience.
Taking the idea of Digg and creating a social shopping site where users can publish any
interesting finds that they want to share, iliketotallyloveit.com was founded by four students
in Germany who wanted to create a community-based website for cool product
recommendations. Quoting Paris Hilton may not make for the most eloquent name, yet it's a
perfect way to to describe this great new site where every user can upload short reviews of
their chosen items, vote on other people's postings and comment on products shown, which
vary from iPod alarm clocks to gold cassette belt buckles, plus of course a wide array of cool
t-shirts.
